Since the Winter of 2024, I have been involved in the BYU Structural Dynamics Research Group led by Dr. Matt Allen. Under his supervision and while working with another graduate student, Brennen Clark, I have helped explore the limitations and efficacy of the inverse Single Nonlinear Resonant Mode (SNRM) based algorithm in nonlinear system identification.
This research has involved creating the algorithm and process in code, testing it on synthetic data, and then testing it on real data acquired from an actual nonlinear system. The methodology and findings behind these efforts will be published in the IMAC 2025 conference under the title of "Comparison of Nonlinear System Identification and Modal Methods for Steady-State Measurements from the S4 Beam ," where I am the first author.
